Inspired by Locals is a site created by European travel bloggers that helps travelers from all over get inspired and travel like locals by finding local hotspots based on social media check-ins. Here’s how it works: You enter your destination/venue and then check out the best venues, as rated by the locals. Then, they create an itinerary and save your trip. I brought up my hometown of Manhattan Beach and it showed the most popular place for each category but not the places I recommend. Here’s that Manhattan Beach list.

    A Spotted by Locals rip-off

Hi Asif, I wasn’t even aware of a spotted by locals, shows how much I know :-) We aren’t really like Spotted by Locals because they use real local people to build their city guides whereas ours is built purely on social media check in data and then cross checked with reviews, all anonymous but means it isn’t based on one person’s opinion. I hope that makes sense, it’s all about data for us and we aren’t restricted to any destinations. It’s basically wherever we have data.

Spotted by locals is heck of a lot better. I did a search for some locals spots in Paris and both gave different results. Inspired gave generic spots where I’ve been before whereas, Spotted gave some real new hidden places. If Spotted by Locals is built purely on social media then they will have to do results based on social media based in their own countries and native languages. Instead you get old recommended places (some a year old) and rarely updated. Spotted is more up to date where real locals give the best advise, and is worth paying for imo.

Hi Dave, great back and thanks for taking the time to have a look. There is genuinely no such thing as bad back and we’ll use your comments as part of our next release. As it happens we are making some changes to our algorithm that should be released soon and should make the site a hell of a lot better. Anyway, any other things you think we should look at, let us know. Cheers

Love SBL. 90% the things I haven’t done in London like the.are Kyoto gardens or Tin Tin shop are all listed on Spotted. Great site thanks.
