LAXFlying American Out of LAX? Check Your Gate
American Airlines (AA) and US Airways just recently completed their merger (finally) so the US Airways brand is completely gone for consumers. However, there’s still going to be some confusion, especially at Los Angeles International (LAX). You see, American Airlines operated out of LAX’s Terminal 4 while US Airways operated out of Terminal 6. Now that the two are one, , and travelers and taxi/Uber drivers aren’t certain where to find departing flights.

Last week, my Uber driver tried to drop me at Terminal 6 and I was like, “Whoa, Nelly! It’s Terminal 4.” He said he’d just dropped an American flyer off at T6 that morning. Technically he was right, but I have and I’d read AA’s flight notification so I knew which terminal and gate I was flying out of. So to be on the safe side, make sure you know which terminal you’re flying out of at LAX—and any airport—before you go.

  • Boarding passes printed more than four hours before departure won’t include terminal and gate information. Check your terminal and gate before leaving.
  • , since it will take until the end of next year for AA to finish repainting them. Also, their flight attendants will still have their uniforms until the third quarter of 2016.
  • Speaking of LAX: Have you seen the commercial I just filmed for them?

I recently had the same issue. I checked in at terminal 4 LAX and my gate was in terminal 6. It was a bit confusing. Luckily, I had some time before boarding my flight!
