Travel Tip of the Day: Avoid Tight Connections

ConnectionAvoid Tight Connections
I always recommend flying nonstop to save valuable time, but sometimes there are more factors to consider. If you have to make a connection, you should think twice about getting the absolute shortest one—especially during busy times of year and during storm season. Airports vary on what they view as a legal connection, but personally I would never book a connection of 50 minutes or less.

If you miss that second flight, especially during the tough times of year, you’ll have a tougher and much more stressful time trying to get on the next flight. These days it seems flights are flying at capacity so there just aren’t any seats to give you if you miss your connection.

  1. And if work book the flights for you remember that you’ll probably have to get them to rearrange the flight if something goes wrong!

Thankfully my upcoming flights have connection times of a few hours – a lot of time to kill but little to no chance of missing my connections.

  2. And leave even more time if you know you’ll be going through customs at this connection. I just rejected a connection I was offered of 80 minutes. High chance of failure.
