Short Bio: I write about travel with a focus on food, art, culture, and quirky, off-beat locations. Favorite fancy restaurant: B & G Oysters, Boston
Favorite hole in the wall: El Atlakatl, Miami, Florida (the one in Little Havana) for fab Salvadoran eats.
Favorite food: Oysters!
Drink of choice (In the air and on the ground): In the air: water only. On the ground: red wine, vodka, and tequila (not all at once!)
Favorite travel movie(s): The Edge of Heaven by Fatih Akin; The Golden Door (Nuovomondo) by Emanuele Crialese
Favorite travel book(s): Knopf Guides. Don’t know if they print them anymore but my old copies are treasured for insight on the arts, literature, architecture and history of each destination.

Five things you bring on a plane: water, New Yorker magazine, saline nasal spray, shawl, earplugs
What do you always seem to forget: The lunch I packed so I don’t have to buy expensive and predictable airport food.
What do you want your loved one to buy you from an airport duty free store? Unpasteurized French cheese. Of course then they have to smuggle it into the States. (Worth the risk!)

Worst travel moment: Seriously spraining my ankle while starting the long hike down Masada in Israel.
