    Johnny,
I just got back from Bangkok, Phuket and Ao Nang.
I really enjoyed my trip, but I have to mention something that might be worthy information.
    I rent motorcycle/scooter when I travel.
At a Phuket, Patong to Kalama ride, the Thai Police were setting up a late night road block.
After I went though, they pulled me over to check out me, the tourist.
I had just finished a 4 hour date with a local friend, and was heading back to Hyatt Regency in Kalama.
They searched me, I don’t do drugs, but at dinner I had 1 beer. I was told I would be spending the night in jail.

After 2 hours of sitting in an office and one of the Thai Police trying to communicate to me my fine in court tomorrow will be from 10,000 to 20,000 baht,
he finally says I can pay now 10,000 baht. At this time, I just want out of there, so I tell them I will get the money from my room, I was only holding 4,000 baht which was not enough for him.

In any case, bribe payed..and I saw many others paying bribes at this point too, me being the Hyatt tourist I think I paid the most.
And you hear of this in other parts of Thailand.
I can imagine this happening in all parts of Asia as I know the police are all crooked down there.

    Maybe post a beware if you travel/rent bikes/drink/Local Police/road blocks/bribes
I hear of horror stories of police in cities too like Bangkok..and end of month when their salary is spent.
I know in Bali the police look for tourists when possible.

    Mahalo,
    Edoginasia
btw, love watching you on Leo
and congratulations on your new addition to the family..
