If you’ve ever walked down a famous avenue like Champs-Élysées, Rodeo Drive or Bond Street, then no doubt you’ve seen tourists with multiple designer shopping bags filled with expensive goods.
It appears some bad guys in France are now targeting tourists (especially Chinese since they do a lot of shopping trips). , “40 holidaymakers had just returned from a shopping trip and were milling in the car park of the Kyriad Hotel in the Val-de-Marne suburb of the [Paris] city at about 8.20pm…Four suspects ran into the car park and began spraying tear gas at the tourists, Xinhua cited local media reports as saying. The assailants then made off with nine bags filled with shopping, including many luxury items.”
The Chinese embassy has issued a warning to all Chinese citizens planning to visit France, describing the security situation in the country as grim. Unfortunately, this could happen anywhere. And although it might be fun or Instagram-worthy to walk down a famous avenue with designer bags, it’s not smart. If you do plan to buy expensive goods, have the store either ship them to your house or courier them to your hotel.
