My son Jack, who’s 19-months old, recently had his first layover. My wife and I debated whether a non-stop flight was preferable or a layover was a good idea. Both had their pros and cons and in the end, we opted to try a layover to give Jack a chance to run around and burn off some of the energy that courses through his toddler veins!
Once we had decided we’d do a layover through DFW, I figured I should find out what there is to do there. Without knowing what they offer for kids, I Googled “DFW kids section” and several outdated blog posts showed up. But one result that I knew was updated was and was on family-friendly facilities. It has some good information for parents traveling with little ones. For instance, there’s a McDonald’s play area in Terminal D near Gate D8 and there’s an emergency room and pharmacy also in Terminal D, near Gate D22. I was happy to be armed with this information before we landed!
So if you don’t want to arrive at a layover airport like a fish out of water, Google the airport code and what you’re looking for in advance to get a good idea of what your options are. And then ask an information representative when you arrive if there’s anything else.
