Park Hyatt Seoul entrance

We stayed at the which has everything you would expect from a five star hotel. The 24-story hotel has floor-to-ceiling windows but what’s weird is the windows aren’t tinted so passersby can see everything from the outside.

From inside the views are stunning and I loved the room’s natural elements of Myanmar oak and stone. But our particular room design was funky (room 1902) – we didn’t have a view from our bed and the internet ($24 a day) was slow which is surprising since Seoul is supposed to have the fastest internet in the world. But the room’s over-sized granite bath with a rain shower, soaking tub and heated bidet toilets would get me to return in a nanosecond; not to mention its location.

What made our stay even more special was on the way up to the lobby (it’s on the 24th floor) we got to talking with one of the hotel’s execs (a young, well dressed German) and when he found out it was our honeymoon he rolled out the red carpet. He first tried to upgrade us to a suite but the only one available was a smoking room so we kindly declined. Then he sent a really nice bottle of champagne and later a Black Forrest cake and a bottle of wine. I think I need to go on a honeymoon more often!

FYI: The Park Hyatt Seoul is located directly in front of the , a bus stop and opposite the COEX Convention Center, , a few blocks from Bongeunsa Temple and the so the location is basically perfect.

Good to know:

  • They only have one elevator that goes from the rooms to the bottom so it’s like a local train during peak times.
  • The bathroom is fine unless you are sharing it with someone because the door to the toilet is ridiculously thin.
  • It cost me $410 (including tax) for the night and I ended up paying for it using my AMEX Rewards.
