Always pack liquids in a plastic bagAlways, always pack liquids in plastic bags when you fly. With the pressure on an airplane and with all the moving around that comes with checking a bag, the tops are bound to open. It could be a bottle of wine, or just a mini-bottle of shampoo you nicked from your hotel room bathroom. If you forget to bring a Ziploc bag from home (I always carry a few extra), either look in the hotel closet for a laundry bag, an ice bucket bag or even a shower cap (if you tie it, it’ll work).

Note: The photo above is Jack’s medicine, which as you can tell exploded on our flight the other day. Fortunately, our clothes and suitcase were saved because we had it wrapped in plastic.

I always put a paper towel or some tissues in the plastic bag. Helps sop up the liquids if they do leak.
