Each Friday, we feature a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip comes from reader Ernesto D., who offers some advice for the next time you want your photo taken:

“My travel tip is when asking others to take a photo for you, whether group or solo, ask someone that is taking photos with a DSLR camera. Chances are that they will take the time to compose a better shot that you will like.”

Great tip. Thanks, Ernesto!

Haha. Makes sense. But what if they don’t have wifi on their camera and can’t send it to you?

The tip is have them use your camera since chances are they have better photo taking skills.

I try to spot DSLR owners every time I want a pic as well! But to be honest… A lot of them seem to have no clue how to make even an alright photograph, haha!

Ernesto is spot on. Whoever carries the DSLR will take MUCH better images than anyone else, guaranteed. Never thought about this tip, but after dozens of terrible photos taken by bystanders, I always hand my iphone to the person with with the DSLR, if they are around.
