One Way to Fix the Lost Key Problem

One way to fix the lost key problemEach Friday, we feature a reader-submitted tip as our Travel Tip of the Day. This week’s tip comes from reader Karol, who says:

“It is easy to lose keys on a trip or while at home. My teenagers seem to be masters of it. To fix the lost key problem, I went to PetSmart (or anywhere they sell dog ID tags) and instead of my dog’s name, I made a separate tag with each family member’s name and my phone number and attached it to each person’s key ring.

So far, we have recovered keys four times with this handy addition, as whoever finds the lost keys has a name and number to call on the keychain. Easy and efficient and less expensive than replacing expensive car keys!”

Thanks, Karol!

  1. I would recommend instead using your name and business address or post office box. With a name an phone number, a reverse search can be done to determine your address … and they now have a key to your house.

  2. Be careful about using phone number as it may be possible to do a reverse number look up to find your address, and now they have the keys to your house.
