All U.S. Driver’s Licenses Will Be Valid as Airport ID Through 2020

Happy New Year!

To kick off 2018, today’s tip focuses on a subject that’s had people across the country talking for some time: the foretold end of state driver’s licenses as valid airport ID. But worry not: , the TSA has announced that all U.S. driver’s licenses will be valid for domestic travel through October 1, 2020.

Standards written into the 2005 REAL ID Act still require all states bring their driver’s licenses into compliance, but for the moment, that will not affect airport ID requirements. (For international travel, of course, you’ll still need a passport.)
