Today Barclays the new Barclays Arrival® Premier World Elite Mastercard®. The new Barclays Arrival Premier credit card doesn’t come with a sign-up bonus but it earns 2 miles on every purchase, includes premium travel perks like Global Entry, rewards you for your spending annually, and has a $150 annual fee.
Do you want a travel rewards card with the perks below?
Unlimited 2x Miles on Every Purchase
The Barclays Arrival Premier puts a unique spin on the tiered purchase rewards that come with every premium travel credit card. You will earn 2x miles on every dollar you spend. If you spend $2,000 a month, you will get 4,000 bonus miles as one example. Most premium travel cards have category spending bonuses. For example, you will receive 3x miles per $1 on travel and dining with the Sapphire Reserve.
Earn Up To 25,000 Bonus Miles Each Year
Without offering a sign-up bonus Barclays is going after customers who want a credit card that rewards them for their credit card spending year after year.
Barclays turns your flat-rate rewards card into a “tiered” rewards credit card when you spend at least $15,000 in card purchases each membership year. Tiered rewards is a relative term because it doesn’t matter what you buy, you only have to make at least $15,000 in annual card purchases to earn the first card bonus.
Here are the following spending targets you need to reach to earn the two-part loyalty bonus:
- Earn 15,000 bonus miles after spending $15,000
- Earn an additional 10,000 bonus miles after spending $25,000 per year
By spending $25,000 in card purchases each card anniversary year, you’ll earn 75,000 miles total–50,000 base miles 25,000 bonus miles–worth $750 in travel statement credits.
Even if you only earn the first 15,000 loyalty miles, this bonus cancels out the $150 annual fee when you redeem your miles as a travel statement credit.
Share Your Travel Stories For More Bonus Miles
When you share your travel stories inside the Barclaycard Travel Community, you can earn extra rewards miles too. You get to help others maximize their travel and you earn more miles to travel for free sooner. That’s a win-win!
Multiple Point Redemption Opportunities
You can redeem your Barclays Arrival Premier rewards miles for the following rewards:
- Travel statement credits
- Cash statement credits
- Mileage transfers to frequent travel programs
- Gift cards and point transfer
Like the Barclaycard Arrival Plus MasterCard, your most valuable redemption option will be travel statement credits. Each reward mile is worth 1 cent each for travel statement credits.
As an example, every 10,000 miles are worth $100 in travel statement credits.
You might also keep your miles to transfer to a frequent travel program but you’re not guaranteed a 1:1 transfer rate.
Transfer Miles to Travel Partners
Miles transfer to participating travel loyalty programs, currently including: Japan Airlines, Air France/KLM/Flying Blue, Qantas, Malaysia Airlines, Aeromexico, China Eastern, EVA Air, Etihad and Jet Privilege.
Unlike the Arrival Plus (currently unavailable) the Barclays Arrival Premier will give you the option to transfer miles to the travel partners above. This will give you more flexibility and make your miles more valuable in some situations. However, the transfer ratio is 1.4:1 and 1.7:1 for JAL. Not the most enticing option.
Global Entry Application Fee Reimbursement
Global Entry application fee reimbursement is probably the most common travel benefit so you can skip the long security lines every time you return from an international trip and even getting through TSA security for domestic flights. You’ll save $100 every five years when you need to renew your Global Entry credentials.
Complimentary LoungeKey Membership
This airport lounge benefit isn’t as lavish as the Amex Platinum where you can access five different lounge networks for free including the awesome Centurion lounges, but the Barclays Arrival Premier can still save you some money if you get to the airport early or have a long layover and don’t want to hang out in the general terminal.
With your complimentary LoungeKey membership, you can access 800 lounges for $27 per person. You still have to pay to visit a lounge, but you don’t have to buy an annual membership with the various networks.
The cheapest Priority Pass lounge membership costs $99 per year $27 per visit. Paying the annual membership fee for several lounge networks year in and year out gets expensive.
International Chip and Pin
If you travel internationally, the Barclays Arrival® Premier World Elite Mastercard®.comes with Chip and Pin technology. Other countries, especially Western Europe, require you to enter a pin number to complete an in-person credit card transaction.
Not having a pin number can present a problem when you’re trying to complete a purchase at a self-service kiosk like a train station or parking garage. If you don’t have enough cash on hand, you lose precious minutes trying to find an ATM machine or a cashier that can complete your purchase.
Complimentary Travel Insurance
You will also enjoy these built-in travel insurance benefits that can help you keep your sanity when a wrench gets thrown into your travel itinerary.
- Baggage delay insurance
- Travel accident insurance
- Trip cancellation insurance
- Auto rental collision damage waiver
Hopefully, you’ll never have to use these benefits but it’s nice to know you have them just in case.
Additional Mastercard World Elite Benefits
The travel benefits are decent for a travel credit card that only costs $150, but you might enjoy these non-travel benefits compliments of Mastercard. Many travel rewards cards carry the Visa Signature label and having a Mastercard World Elite in your pocket can be a nice addition for your non-travel expenses too.
Mastercard will help you find recommendations and book reservations for the following travel events:
- Sporting events
It pays to be “in the know” and Mastercard can help you gain access to exclusive events.
Free ShopRunner Service
You might not make all your online purchases from Amazon. If that’s the case, you might shop at an online store that partners with for free 2-day shipping at more than 100 online stores including Staples, Kay Jewelers, Ray-Ban, and Neiman Marcus.
Mastercard will automatically extend the warranty on select items with an original manufacturer warranty 24 months or less.
If you buy an item and the price drops, you might be eligible for a price protection refund to help you save some spare change.

Will You Apply for the Barclays Arrival Premier?
The Barclays Arrival® Premier World Elite Mastercard® is another addition to the “hybrid” premium travel credit cards that offer additional travel benefits like airport lounge access and Global Entry clearance without the $450+ annual fees of a full-service premium travel credit card.
If you want a flexible rewards card that lets you do more than earn and redeem miles for award travel, the Arrival Premier could be an option for you. But you’ll find it lacking if you travel on a regular basis and can maximize the additional travel benefits from a high-end premium travel credit card.
Also, there’s no enticing welcome bonus which is a bummer, but you do have the ability to earn a significant amount of additional miles if you want to maximize your yearly credit card spending.
