Well before the 2020 presidential election really heats up in America, a number of other countries around the world will hold elections of significance in 2019. “More than 40% of the world will elect leaders this year,” , which runs through a slideshow of “elections to watch” in the year that began on January 1.
The story is worth a look because it’s interesting but especially if you have plans to travel internationally, as election dates (and stakes) can greatly affect a travel experience. Everything from congestion and business closures to emotional scenes and even danger can accompany a big election. Next week (April 9), for example, Israel will hold legislative elections that may swing the momentum of the country, and citizens of all EU countries will vote in a European Parliament election from May 23 to May 26.
