LGALGA Transportation Tip
When I’m flying in or out of New York’s LaGuardia Airport and I want to save money or if the taxi line is ridiculously long, I jump on the M60 bus to 125th Street and then use my MetroCard (you need to buy one before getting on; machines are available at the airport), for a free subway transfer. I can get to/from LGA to Manhattan for a total cost of $2.50 (with MetroCard; $2.75 without)). The key is to pack light. And I’m sure it’s safe, but I personally don’t take it at night. Here’s the MTA’s site for more information.

I took the M60 bus at Laguardia airport and transferred to the subway which took me to my destination for under ten dollars on the Metro card. It was a hassle free ride and saved a lot of money by not taking a taxi.

    how long does it take?

Without traffic about 30 minutes from the American Airlines Terminal to 125th Street.

There’s also the Q70 express bus that goes to the Jackson Heights and Woodside stations in Queens. (Those are its only two stops after leaving the airport). From either of those stations, it’s a quick ride to Grand Central on the 7 train. And for getting TO LGA from the city, especially if you’re coming from midtown or downtown, the Q70 is probably a superior way to go — even more so because, depending on time of day, traffic on 125th Street heading out of Manhattan can be very slow.
